As is vividly depicted in the first picture, a flower in a greenhouse, sheltering from heavy rain, bold wind and burning sun, blossoms beautifully. But in the other one,it, is growing withered once it has been moved out in storm. We can see several Chinese characters on the bottom of the left cartoon, which read “flowers in greenhouses cannot withstand rain and wind”.
This drawing does reflect a thought-provoking phenomenon which is not uncommon in China now. The young are always protected too much because they are faced with an ungovernable struggle for existence in the surrounding nowadays. Superficially, it seems somewhat reasonable, but when weighting in mind, we find an apparent tendency underlying this phenomenon: parents dote on their children. Firstly, it is well known that we exist in a dynamic world with various difficulties. The only thing we can do is to face them instead of hide in a safe shell. Take ourselves for example, it is a challenge for us either to choose to take an advanced course of study or seek for a job in society when having graduated from university. Secondly, experiences, both pleasure and bitterness, play an indispensable role in the process of our growth. With bravery, confidence and fight assessment of the difficulties in front of us, try and exert our strength, and we would harvest a lot whether we succeed in overcoming the problems or not.
As far as I am concerned, it is more reasonable to cultivate children in an opening way. And only in this way can the children have a physical and mental well-being.
