People become illogical when they try to decide what can be eaten and what cannot be eaten. If you lived in Mediterranean, for instance, you would consider octopus a great delicacy. You would not be able to understand why some people find it repulsive. On the other hand, your stomach would turn at the idea of frying potatoes in animal fat which is normally accepted practice in many northern countries. The sad truth is that most of us have been brought up to eat certain foods and we stick to them all our lives.
No creature has received more praise and abuse than the common garden snail. Cooked in wine, snails are a great luxury in various parts of world. There are countless people who ever since their early years have learned to associate snails with food. My friend, Robert lives in a country where snails are despised.As his flat is in a large town, he has no garden of his own. For years he has been asking me to collect snails from my garden and take them to him. The idea never appealed to me ,but one day, after heavy shower, I happened to be walking in my garden when I noticed a huge number of snails taking a stroll on some of my prize plants. Acting on a sudden impulse, I collected several dozen, put them into a paper bag and took them to Robert. Robert was delighted to see me and equally pleased with my little gift. I left the bag in the hall and Robert and I went into the living room where we talked for a couple of hours. I had forgotten all about the snails when Robert suddenly said I must stay to dinner. Snails would, of course, be the main dish. I did not fancy the idea and reluctantly followed him out of the room. To our dismay, we saw that there were snails everywhere : they have escaped from the bag and had taken complete possession of the hall. I have never been able to look at a snail since then.

没有食物比普通花园里德蜗牛得到更多的赞赏和责备了。伴以酒炒，蜗牛是世界很多地方的大美味。有很多人从小就把蜗牛和美味联系起来。我的朋友罗伯特居住在讨厌蜗牛的国家。他的房屋在大镇里，他没有自己的花园。多年以来他一直要求我从我自己的院子里收集蜗牛带给他。我对此不敢恭维，但是一天一场暴风雨之后，我在院里散步发现很多蜗牛在我的值钱的植物上。冲动之下，我收集了几打，放在纸袋里并且带给他。罗伯特很高兴见到我与我的小小礼物。我把包放在大厅里并且罗伯特和我一起去房间，我们谈论了好几小时。如果不是罗伯特说晚餐时间到了，我把蜗牛全部忘了。蜗牛肯定是主餐。我无奈的蹒跚的跟着他走出房间。让我们沮丧的是，我们看到到处都是蜗牛。它们逃脱了袋子并且把大厅占满了。我从此再也不能接受看蜗牛一眼了

水平很简单就能翻译，只能说楼主的水平要不然就是太差，要不然就是太懒惰了。这样可不行。

新概念第几册？ 新概念1 2 难度不是很高，普遍自学的方法都是要买一套磁带或者光盘，跟着录音一起过课文并且练读音，新概念课文录音里面的英音非常标准，对以后你的口语发音很有用。过完之后，独立翻译一下课文，并且完成下面的课文内容提问，之后按照书本内容去学。如果是自学的话，建议不要去死扣后面的语法知识，容易搞混。
